Ready for the Big Day

The turkeys are brining, the cookies are baked, the green bean casserole is all ready to be thrown in the oven, and I am ready for the food coma that will surely ensue tomorrow afternoon.  Now I can wake up late, lay around in my PJs as the turkeys cook, and watch the Thanksgiving Parade with my kids.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my dear friends and followers.  I am grateful to have wonderful people, like you in my life.  May your day be filled with food, family, and fun.

Here are a couple of food pictures I snapped this afternoon on my cell....just to set the mood!

This is the brine that my turkeys are currently soaking in.  This year I included rosemary, brown sugar, garlic, peppercorns, salt, bay leaves, apple cider, and orange peel.  Cooking up four gallons of this stuff will make any house smell festive.

Snickerdoodles - one of the billions of desserts my family has on Thanksgiving.  A tradition started by my Aunt Cindy many, many years ago.  To me....they are a Thanksgiving staple.

BDEM:  As I sat here, pondering on the day, trying to figure out what was the Best Day Ever Moment, I think it's right now.  The house is quiet and clean, all the dishes are done (oh man....if you could have seen this place earlier) the food is prepared...you get the picture.  I think it's the feeling of accomplishment that comes at the end of a really successful day.  A deep breath, a smile, and a nod of approval for my day.
