Rob and I are Netflix people. We just love seeing that red envelope in the mailbox when we don't have anything planned for the night - but our queue is falling apart! I honestly can't think of any movies to add.
Then today I read an article about the top five movies you just HAVE to see...
1. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
2. The Royal Tenenbaums
3. Dr Strangelove: or How I Stopped Worrying and the Love Bomb
4. Romeo and Juliet (The Leonardo DiCaprio version)
5. The Searchers
Hmmm.....not quite the list I would have composed. But in the interest of my empty movie queue - what is your favorite movie? The one you recommend to everyone you see. I don't care if it's old or new, action or chick-flick, I just need some movie ideas.
Best Day Ever Moment {BDEM}: I was so proud today as I watched the Young Women (the girls from the church youth group I work with) win their volleyball games. I am not a volleyball player, or coach of ANY sort, but I love standing on the sidelines and cheering them on. They are good to each other, they play fair, and are good, good sports. What's not to love about that?!

We're kind of in the same boat. So as soon as you get a good list together, send it over. Our Netflix queue is dying.
Tell me when to stop, because I have a boatload of totally excellent movies, most of them way, way old. In the interest of not overstaying my welcome, I'll limit my list to five (for now):
1. Once Upon a Time in the West. Oh, jeepers, I'm crying even thinking about this movie. You MUST be patient with it. You MUST watch it in its entirety in one sitting (it's long). You MUST listen to the music for it is the music that is the star of the film. Oh, man. LOVE.
2. It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. ETHEL MERMAN! I adore Ethel Merman! She is a hoot and a holler in this movie, along with about a bazillion other famous people back in the day. We have watched this movie so many times we've lost count, but it never, NEVER fails to make us bust a gut. In fact, the more you watch it, the better it becomes. So many one-liners that come at you faster than you can digest each one. Flat out the best comedy ever. Again, this one is looooonnnnnggggg.
3. Running a close, a very, very close, second in the comedy genre is What's Up Doc. Holy mackerel, Madline Kahn is simply BRILLIANT! We quote her lines at least once a week. This one is fan-freaking-tastic!!!
4. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Robert Redford was my very first crush after watching this movie. Paul Newman ain't bad either.
5. All three of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Can we say, Viggo Mortensen? Yikes.
I could go on, but these are your appetizers. Okay, okay, I'll go ahead and add To Kill a Mockingbird (oh, how I love Atticus), and anything from Alfred Hitchcock, especially Rear Window or Vertigo. So stylistic, so haute couture, so delish. Alright. I'm going to bed.

oh, hey. Me again. Sorry. Just wanted make sure you see that the first movie is Once Upon a Time in the West, and not Once Upon a Time in America. While the latter may be a perfectly great movie (haven't seen it), it's NOT the one I mean. Sorry to bother you so late at night . . .
Jeff and I love The Italian Job, all of the Jason Bourne series and a bunch of oldies like Rear Window, Arsenic and Old Lace, etc...
Dr Zhivago. My all time favorite!
Omar Sharif, Julie Christie, Geraldine Chaplin(daughter of Charlie), and Rod Steiger. A romantic movie set during the Russian revolution.
I love "Dan In Real Life." I also enjoy "Matchstick Men". I'll think of more.
