The Hike

Since I don't have any pictures to document the ultimate nacho showdown, I'll post some pictures about the healthy hike my hubby and kids went on.  My initial reaction of trying to take four kids is going to suck like nobody's business perhaps Ella and Claire are too young, was definitely on the money.  I love to hike, but hate when the experience turns to tired kids that want to be carried (Ella can't spend twenty minutes walking through Costco without complaining) and since this hike ended up taking them over five hours, I'm really REALLY glad I stayed home.  Even happier I ate all the nachos.  Yes, still.

Even though they got a bit lost and had to hitchhike (don't get me started) they all seemed to have a great time.  You can enjoy the experience the same way I did - in retrospect.

They took the chairlift up  - looks like Jude enjoyed himself

Maddie was a little bit more apprehensive, but survived

They sat on trees

Misused hiking sticks

Picked plenty of Stinging Nettle

Saw about a million of these

And finally arrived

My nature-loving husband

Lost - but happy
Despite it being, "The longest hike EVER," the kids both said they would definitely go on a shorter hike again.   Such troopers.

BDEM: After taking a Sunday to recover from the outdoors, the family hit up one of our favorite spots to enjoy the fall - Cascade Springs.  So prepare yourself - more nature pics coming tomorrow!

Wow! I'm proud of those kids of yours for making it through that long hike! I know that hike particularly well--Stewart Falls, right? That's the hike where, three years ago, I tripped on a tree root, fell, crushed my collar bone on a large boulder and now sport seven screws and a metal plate because of that gorgeous place. I still love that hike though :D
